What is KongaPay?

Kongapay is a financial service provider committed to providing the fastest, easiest, and most reliable mode of payment. It is a subsidiary of Nigeria’s leading E-commerce group - Konga. Millions of users around the globe rely on KongaPay to transfer and receive funds, purchase airtime and data, subscribe to cable TV, electricity bills, and more with lots of perks and bonuses.

How do I register on KongaPay?

Just like transacting on kongaPay, registration is easy. We understand the peculiarities of our customers, so we have reviewed our registration process to be easier. Customers can operate on different levels and the requirements for each level is as follows;

KongaPay Lite:

  • Name
  • Email Address
  • Phone number (Verified with One Time Password)
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Home Address

KongaPay Classic:

  • Image Upload
  • BVN
  • Valid Means of Identification

KongaPay Premium:

  • Address Verification or Utility bill.

To get started, simply follow the steps below; First, download the app on the Google play or App store. If you do not own an Android or Apple device, you can still sign up by visiting the website, kongapay.com to sign up.

How do I link my card to my Kongapay account?

Kindly follow the steps below to link your card to your account

  • Login to your KongaPay account with your telephone number and unique 4 digit security PIN.
  • Link your VISA/MasterCard to your KongaPay account by adding your card details from the settings page.
  • You will need to input your Login PIN and a One Time Password (OTP) sent to your telephone to complete linking your card to your KongaPay account.
  • To ensure the card belongs to you, we will make a small charge (₦50 – ₦300) to your card and this will appear in your bank statement or transaction alert shortly.
  • Once you have the checked the amount from your bank statement, you will need to enter the amount in the settings page to complete verification of your card.
  • Note that it sometimes takes a few days before the charged amount appears in your statement or before your bank sends you a transaction alert.
  • Please also note that prior to your card being verified, you will be limited to ₦20,000 for purchases only.

Why am I being prompted to add my banking details as a KongaPay Classic user?

If you try to complete a transaction and you do not have funds in your wallet (your wallet can be funded by another KongaPay user – irrespective of level) you will be required to link your bank account to your KongaPay account to complete your transaction. To link your bank account details to KongaPay, log into our App or website, navigate to settings, select Add Bank or Card and fill out the necessary fields, it’s easy and quick.

Can I set up auto-renewal for my TV Subscription?

Yes, you can and it’s easy. Follow the steps below:

  • Click on TV subscription on the dashboard or select this from “services” on your mobile app
  • Select your preferred TV subscription (DSTV or GOTV)
  • Key in your smartcard Number
  • Choose your preferred bouquet
  • Since you want the payment to auto renew monthly, tick the box for “Auto-renewal”
  • If you do not have a card information already, you will be prompted to update your card info
  • You will be prompted to put in your pin and One Time Password (OTP) which will be sent to you.

What’s the guarantee that my bank information will be safe if I give it to KongaPay?

We take no prisoners when it comes to the security of your information. First of all, you are always in control. No debit can occur on your account without you first authorising it with the Login PIN and verification code sent by your bank to your phone or email. It’s like having two keys on the door to your account. Secondly, we don’t store your sensitive payment information. We simply verify what you provide against your bank’s database. So, when you forget your PIN, we need proof that it is indeed you making the request. The fastest way to do this is to have you re-verify the information you entered when you signed up. Finally, KongaPay is a regulated mobile money operator and are required by the Central Bank of Nigeria to maintain the same security standards you’ve come to trust with your bank.

How secure is KongaPay?

KongaPay is safe and secure. We are in partnership with recognized banks in Nigeria. Also, the application has a two-factored authentication for linkage and is protected with a 4 digit Login PIN and a 6-digit one time Password for authentication. All these are in addition to other security measures that have been put in place to ensure that your transaction information is protected from intruders.

How do I make a payment using KongaPay?

To make a payment (online):

  • Launch the KongaPay app or visit www.kongapay.com/login
  • Login with your four-digit PIN and your mobile number
  • Click on 'Pay'
  • Scan the QR code or add the code or the merchant ID or enter the merchants name in the name tab
  • Confirm transaction amount and authorize the transaction via KongaPay 4digit Pin and One time password sent to your telephone number from your Bank
  • Viola, your transaction is processed and your Wallet/Account/Card will be debited with the transaction amount.

Make payments (Offline):

  • Merchant gives your their KongaPay MPOS device
  • Confirm transaction amount
  • Authorize Login PIN and One time password sent to your phone from your Bank
  • Click on 'Pay'
  • Account is debited with the transaction amount

What happens if my phone is missing or stolen?

In the event that you lose your phone, please call Our Contact Centre 0708 063 5700, 0809 460 5555, 07007000000, 018883435, 09070038917 or send an email to [email protected] authorizing us to block your account as soon as possible.

Who is qualified to be a merchant on KongaPay?

A KongaPay merchant is one who wants to accept Payments Online and offline. KongaPay helps Nigerian businesses accept payments from bank accounts, cards & KongaPayaccount and payout to sub-merchants in the case of market place merchants.

What do I need to be setup as a Merchant?

  • Business Name, Address and RC registration – Who are you?
  • Scanned documents of signatories (Memorandum of Article, CO2, CO7 and CAC) – Registered to run a business?
  • Phone number (Verified with One Time Password)
  • IDs and BVN of signatories – A simple validation exercise Business Bank Account – Where to settle your proceeds.
  • Passport Pictures of the Signatories

What next once I have been setup as a Merchant?

You will be provided with Live Credentials, which include a Merchant ID, Login and Password to the KongaPay Merchant Admin Portal.

How do I view the transactions for my store?

  • Login in using your Email Address and Password
  • Click on Transactions Tab
  • View Transactions

If I have sub stores, will I be able to view the transactions for all my stores from one view?

If you have multiple stores, then you will be able to view all the transactions from your sub stores from the main account under the transaction “tab”. The personnel for the main account would have to Log in using their email and password and click on transactions tab and then can filter based on stores or location.

How do I setup a Sub store?

You can setup a sub store by doing the following:

  • Visit your KongaPay Admin Portal.
  • Login using the main account’s email and password
  • Click on Store
  • Input the store Name
  • Then create the admin personnel for that store

What are the benefits of KongaPay for a Merchant?

How do I collect Offline Payments as a merchant?

You can accept payments offline using two approaches;

  • You can generate your QR code on your MPOS app, then present it to your KongaPay customer to scan to pay.
  • You can also get your KongaPay customers to pay from their KongaPay user app or web, by supplying your merchant ID or merchant name and have your customers send money to your KongaPay wallet, using “Pay” menu on their KongaPay app or web.

You can also use the KongaPay MPOS app to accept payments; you will have to do the following:

  • Login to the KongaPay MPOS App with your merchant ID and Pin
  • Enter Amount
  • Give customer the KongaPay MPOS device to input their Login PIN and One time password sent to their Telephone Number from the Bank
  • Click on ‘Pay’
  • Merchant gets an alert of payment made immediately

How long will it take for payment to reach the merchant?

The merchant gets an alert of payment made instantly. However, settlement to merchant is done at the end of the following day.

How much is the transaction fees?

This depends on the merchant package type as the transaction fees differ. The minimum applicable transaction fees per package type are as shown below:

  • Receive Payment = 1.5% and capped at ₦2,000.
  • Bulk Payout = ₦50 per transaction.
  • Digital Goods = 1% cash back commission.

When does settlement happen?

Transfers are made on a 1day rolling (T+1).

Are there other charges I should know of?

No, there are no other fees except from those listed above. We never charge for setup or maintenance.

There seems to be a mismatch in your bank name:

While setting up your payout bank, you might come across this error. Not to worry as this is due to the difference in the name inputted on the KongaPay platform and the name currently on your ATM card or with your Bank.

To have this rectified, provide a clear scanned copy of a valid means of Identification (National ID or Driver's license or International passport) bearing same name as it is on your banking details to [email protected]

What if I forget my Login Details?
